Anfang März 2020 spielte ich mein neues Programm short stories in der Kulturkirche Nikodemus in Berlin.
Was ich an diesem Abend noch nicht ahnte, war, dass es mein letztes Solokonzert vor dem Lockdown werden sollte.
Kurze Zeit danach wurden fast alle meine geplanten Auftritte für das Jahr 2020 abgesagt, und die Welt um mich herum geriet aus den Fugen. Ich hätte niemals geglaubt, dass wir Musiker ein Jahr später, im Frühjahr 2021, noch immer keine Konzerte vor einem Publikum spielen dürfen.
Diese Zeit war und ist besonders – die Stille mal wohltuend, mal unerträglich.
In meinen short stories erinnere ich mich an inspirierende Reisen und intensive Begegnungen – an all das, was in dieser außergewöhnlichen Zeit so kostbar ist und wird.

In early March 2020, I performed my new set, short stories, at the church Kulturkirche Nikodemus in Berlin.
The thing I didn’t realize that evening is that it would be my last solo performance before the world locked down.
Shortly thereafter, almost all my performances for 2020 were cancelled, and the world around me seemed to come apart at the seams. I could have never imagined that a year later, in the spring of 2021, musicians would still not be allowed to perform for live audiences.
This time has been and remains extraordinary. At times, the silence is restorative – at others, it is unbearable.
In my short stories, I revisit memories of inspiring trips and the kind of encounters that make us come alive – everything that is and will be so precious to us in these unusual times.
