ALAN SKIDMORE spielt Coltrane. Das tut er immer, auch wenn er frei spielt, wenn er improvisiert oder Sängerinnen begleitet ist Coltrane dabei. Sein Geist schwebt im Sound der Musik, aber zu hören ist, live oder auf dieser Doppel- CD, etwas Radikaleres im Ausdruck, Alan Skidmore als Original! Er hat ein langes musikalisches Leben durchlaufen, geprägt in wilden Free Jazz Jahren, in Big Bands und dann wieder in der Besinnung auf Trane im Quartett. Hiervon bin ich so begeistert, dass ich nun schon das zweite Album mit dieser großartigen Musik veröffentliche. Ulli Blobel

ALAN SKIDMORE plays Coltrane. He always does this, even when he plays freely, when he improvises or accompanies singers, Coltrane is always present. His spirit drifts through the music’s sound, but what we hear, live or on this double-CD, is an expression of something more radical: Alan Skidmore as an original! He has had a long musical career, shaped by the wild Free Jazz years, Big Bands and then returning to a reflection on Trane in the quartet.
