Die Konstanz Suite ist der furiose Aufbruch des 26jährigen Posaunisten, Komponisten und Bandleader Johannes Lauer in einen Kosmos, dessen Reichtum an Formen und Farben, Traditionen und Ausblicken schier grenzenlos ist. Lauer legt sich nicht fest, sondern zeichnet Möglichkeiten auf. Jazz ist ihm Mittel, nicht Endziel. Seine Musik pendelt zwischen den Extremen von Abstraktion und Alltag. Wie Komposition und Improvisation einander feinfühlig durchdringen, bedingen sich auch das nebenbei Aufgeschnappte und das abstrakt Ersonnene derart organisch, dass man es schwerlich ohne Rückstände voneinander trennen könnte. Lauer lässt keinen Zweifel daran, dass er sich auf eine Suche begeben hat. Doch er manifestiert auch unmissverständlich seine Entschlossenheit, zu finden. In seiner Persönlichkeit prallen die drei Extreme des verträumten Romantikers, des rationalen Planers und des ungestümen Neuerers in spitzem Winkel aufeinander. The Konstanz Suite is the furious departure of the 26-year-old trombonist, composer and bandleader Johannes Lauer into a cosmos whose wealth of shapes and colours, traditions and views is almost limitless. Lauer does not settle, but records possibilities. Jazz is a means, not the end goal. His music oscillates between the extremes of abstraction and everyday life. How composition and improvisation penetrate each other sensitively, the incidentally snapped and the abstract exposure are so organic that it could hardly be separated without leaving any residue. Lauer leaves no doubt that he has embarked on a search. But he also unmistakably manifests his determination to find. In his personality, the three extremes of the dreamy romantic, the rational planner and the impetuous innovator collide at a sharp angle.
